Orientation 2017

Orientation is really helpful for students starting a new programme and it’s a great way to be WelTec ready. This year we have a range of Orientation events and activities that all enrolled students are welcome to attend.

10 - 11am, Study Success
Not sure how to study effectively, begin your assignments or prepare for exams? Come along to get advice on how to get started, keep on track and succeed as a WelTec student. 

11 - 12pm, Technology Tips
Learn about Moodle, WelTec’s online learning system as well as how to access useful tech tools at home and on-campus. Get your devices connected to the WelTec network and learn about Office 365, which gives WelTec students free access to Microsoft Office anytime, anywhere.

12 - 1pm, APA Referencing
Come along to learn how to reference correctly and avoid plagiarism.

1 - 2pm, Student Wellbeing
Worried about studying? This workshop will suggest options for dealing with challenges such as study anxiety, time management and assignment planning. You’ll also meet WelTec staff who can support you in your study journey.

Need help getting your finances in order? Come to this workshop to meet WelTec’s Financial Advisor and get support with your StudyLink application and/or budgeting.

11 - 12pm, Library Intro
Learn about what’s available to students through the WelTec library – online and on campus. Meet the librarians and discover useful resources for your course.

12 - 1pm, CV and Job Success
Looking for part-time work while you study? If so, come to this workshop to learn how to write a CV that stands out, and get helpful advice about job applications and interviews, Student Job Search and the WelTec Job Brokers.

1 - 2pm, Student Wellbeing

Mihi Whakatau Official Welcome - 6 March

WelTec’s Mihi Whakatau is the official welcome for our students and marks the start of Trimester 1 2017. All are welcome to share in this experience. For students at Petone, the welcome will be on Monday 6 March 8.30 - 10.00am, and for Wellington CBD, Church Street, 12.30 - 1.30pm.

For those based at the Petone Campus, the Mihi Whakatau will be held in the Student Hub. If you are in one of our CBD campuses, join us at our Church Street Campus on Level 3. 

Party in the Park - 6 March

Come along to WelTec's Party in the Park!

12pm-2pm Petone Recreation Ground

We welcome all students to come celebrate the beginning of trimester 1.

There will be live music, food, games, prizes and more.

Online orientation information

Student ID card

Your WelTec student ID card is your formal identification on campus. It allows you to access printing, use the library and receive student discounts. You can get your student ID card made two weeks prior to the start date of your course or anytime during your first week. Student ID cards can be made at Reception Monday - Friday between the hours of 8am and 5pm.

Student login

Your WelTec student login will be needed to access WelTec computers, Citrix, Wi-Fi and Moodle. You can login any time after you have received your acceptance letter which has your login ID and password in it. More information here.

Studying at tertiary level is a big investment and it's important to have your finances sorted before class starts. More information here.
