NZ Certificate in Make-up and Skin Care (Introduction)

Gain an introduction to basic beauty from skin care and maintenance through to classic and trending make-up looks. Develop the confidence to deliver great customer service whilst working in a range of environments. Beauty salons. Cosmetic retail counters. Make-up houses.

What you will learn

  • Knowledge of facial structure and skin-types
  • Prepare the face for long-lasting make-up application
  • Carry out day, evening and special occasion makeup looks
  • Client consultation, to establish needs and determine make-up or skin care service
  • Identify symptoms of skin conditions to advise clients of future implications and possible treatments
  • Gain product knowledge of cosmetics and toiletries
  • Customer service and communication skills
  • Reception, retail and promotion skills for makeup and beauty sales
  • Personal presentation for the beauty industry
  • Industry health, safety and hygiene principles

Under 20

  • NCEA level 1, or above

International students: minimum IELTS (academic) score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5, or equivalent.
