Electrical Inspector

Two-week block course offered in November. Or study in the evenings and start in July. Learn the roles and responsibilities of an Electrical Inspector. Complete EWRB practical assessments in our workshop and off site around the Hutt Valley.

What you will learn

  • Reach the level required by the Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) for Inspector's theory examinations and practical assessments
  • Assess and apply safe working practices
  • Learn care and use of test instruments
  • Carry out continuity tests
  • Measure conductor and insulation resistance
  • Test earthing systems
  • Complete RCD and phase rotation measurements
  • Inspect and test work on a variety of low-voltage installations and appliances
  • Install and terminate supply and load conductors to DIN and BS energy meters
  • Complete and issue compliance documentation

Course structure

The course is offered as a 2 week block course. Start 6 November.

Or attend an evening class every Tuesday from 5.30pm-8.30pm for a total of 18 weeks. Start 18 July.

You are required to sit an exam on the Saturday morning, following the course.

Course requirements

Students must bring the latest copy of ASNZ3000, including any amendments. Be prepared to do some pre course reading and revision. A scientific calculator is also required.

Electrical Workers Registration Board

EWRB application forms need to be completed and signed for the exam and practical assessment (see documents below). Application forms will only be accepted with payment. Entries received within 14 days of the examination date will incur a late fee of $85.
