Professional Supervision for the Workplace

Want to provide supervision as part of your career? Strengthen your professional practice with supervisory skills. Develop the ability to supervise and guide others in your place of work. Attend two workshops over two months, five days total.

What you will learn

  • Adopt and explain an approach to supervision
  • Conduct a professional supervision session
  • Learn supervision strategies and interventions
  • Apply supervision skills that facilitate competence in others
  • Identify and address potential safety and ethical issues within a supervision session
  • Use ethics and contracts to guide supervisory practice
  • Reflect on own philosophy as a supervisor
  • Maintain clear records and documents for supervision sessions

Programme structure

Workshop One: 16 – 17 September

Across two days, cover the approaches to, and practice of professional supervision.

Between the workshops complete two supervision sessions, writing up notes to reflect on the session.

Workshop Two: 6 - 8 October

Continue examining the practice of professional supervision.

Entry criteria

Under 20

Three years professional practice experience (e.g. nurses, midwives, lawyers, principals, doctors, counsellors, addictions practitioners, youth workers etc).

  • Professional relevant qualification
  • Professional body membership
  • Access to clients for Professional supervision practice
  • Access to online learning (Moodle)
  • Have attended Tiriti o Waitangi training at some level
  • English fluency – IELTS Level 6 on all bands 

20+
