Barista Skills

Start in September and study in the evenings. Or attend the four-day block course in November or December. Master the art of making and serving coffee. Gain the knowledge and skills to work as a Barista.

What you will learn

  • Different aspects involved with creating the perfect brew
  • Coffee heritage and production
  • Knowledge of coffee recipes
  • Espresso production

Programme structure

The programme is offered as an evening class every Wednesday and Thursday from 6pm - 9pm, for a total of 3 weeks. The evening programme runs between the following dates:

21 June - 6 July

27 Sept - 12 Oct 

Or you can attend a four-day block course, from 9am-3pm on the following dates:

20 Nov - 23 Nov

4 Dec - 7 Dec

  3. Your date of residency if you are a permanent resident in NZ.

If you have your NZQA National Student Number and/or a WelTec Student ID it will help us process your application faster.


To enrol as a international student you will need to download and complete our international enrolment form.

Once completed, you may submit the form and accompanying documentation directly to WelTec International, or go through one of our registered recruitment agents.
