Licenced Controllers Qualification
The LCQ is a valuable qualification for anyone working within licensed premises. Having a good understanding of the law and host responsibility is critical for the safe and responsible service of alcohol.
What you will learn
- To demonstrate knowledge of the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 and its implications for licensed premises
- To demonstrate knowledge of Host Responsibility requirements as a Duty Manager of licensed premises
The Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012 requires all licensed premises to have a certified Manager on duty at all times alcohol is available to be sold or supplied to the public.
Before applying for a Manager's Certificate, you are required to obtain the LCQ.
On completion of this course and you will receive the formal LCQ certificate from ServiceIQ and have the Unit Standards registered on your Record of Achievement with NZQA.
Assessment is completed online. There is one day of learning in class, and an optional supported learning day on campus.

Fee for current WelTec and Le Cordon Bleu students is $200.

If you have your NZQA National Student Number and/or a WelTec Student ID it will help us process your application faster.
To enrol as a international student you will need to download and complete our international enrolment form.
Once completed, you may submit the form and accompanying documentation directly to WelTec International, or go through one of our registered recruitment agents.
