New Zealand students
A step-by-step guide to enrolling at WelTec for New Zealand students.
1. Select a course
Find the right course by browsing our course list.
Decide what to study and check the entry requirements.
Your application to enrol will be reviewed against the entry requirements for the programme. Even if you don't meet the entry requirements, you could still be eligible for special entry. If you are waiting on NCEA/other results, you can still apply.
2. Complete an enrolment form
There are three ways to complete an enrolment form:
- Use our online enrolment form (we recommend you apply online if possible)
- Enrol in person at one of our campuses.
- Download an application form and send to:
Private Bag 39814
Lower Hutt 5045
For your first enrolment we require a verified copy of your passport or birth certificate to show NZ citizenship or Permanent Residency status. You may also need to provide verified copies of your qualifications to meet entry requirements.
Do not send original documents. WelTec is not responsible for loss of or damage to original documents. Verified copies are photocopies that have been sighted and signed by:
- A Justice of the Peace, Minister, lawyer or equivalent; or
- A designated WelTec staff member. Just bring the original version into one of our campuses to be verified
3. Meet the entry requirements
Your application to enrol will be reviewed against the entry requirements for your chosen programme.
Some programmes require you to complete an additional information form. If you are required to attend an interview we will contact you, after we receive your application to enrol, to arrange a time and date.
If you don’t meet the entry criteria, most of our programmes have special admission options. We can meet with you to discuss your options. If you are over 20 years old, and a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident, you may apply to WelTec for entry into a programme.
Special admission for over 20s
You may be eligible if you:
- Are aged 20 yrs or over on the first day of the course
- Are a New Zealand citizen/permanent resident or an Australian citizen/permanent resident studying in NZ
- Do not otherwise qualify for admission
- Meet language requirements (your first language is not English or Maori).
We will contact you if we need further information.
You must be competent in the use and understanding of written and spoken English.
Some programmes with entry requirements have an application due date. Late applications will not necessarily be considered. In these cases, late applications will only be approved on a case by case basis by the Head of School.
4. Accept your offer of place
Once your application is approved, we will send you an offer of place with details of your enrolment and the total fees for your programme of study. You will be asked to accept or decline this offer.
You will be advised if we are unable to offer you a place. If you accept the offered place, we will complete your enrolment and secure your place at WelTec.
5. Pay your fees
You will receive an invoice for your fees.
Fees must be paid in full, or arrangements made for payment of fees before the start of your study.
If you apply for a student loan, please ensure that all necessary forms have been completed and you have been granted eligibility for the loan.

6. All done!
