Gain introductory skills and knowledge in bakery, cookery, barista and restaurant service. Classes are every Friday, over a five week period.

What you will learn

  • Bakery - learn to prepare and bake food items in a commercial kitchen, including sponges and scones. (Unit standards 13272 and 13325).
  • Cookery - learn how to handle and maintain knives in a commercial kitchen. Use effective hygiene techniques when working with food. (Unit standards 13285 and 167).
  • Food and Beverage - prepare customer dining areas in a commercial hospitality environment. Present a menu, serve customers, maintain table service. (Unit Standards 14434 and 14436)
  • Barista - learn coffee extraction, presentation and how to use barista equipment. (Unit Standard 17288)

Classes are every Friday, over a five week period. 

Students should wear black trousers and a white shirt, no shorts. Covered non slip footwear. Hair to be pulled back and secured. Please no jewellery or nail polish.

Barista students may wear smart casual, T shirt, jeans of darker colours, closed toed shoes.
